Homedale girls' wrestling tourney planned at NNU

Inaugural Ardis Nash Memorial set Saturday — Homedale High School will start the season with a wrestling tournament at a big-time venue.
The Ardis Elizabeth Nash Memorial, named for a longtime Homedale teacher and the grandmother of one of the most successful wrestlers in Trojans history, will take place Saturday inside the Johnson Sports Center on the Northwest Nazarene University campus in Nampa.
Homedale is the host squad for the tournament.
The all-female tournament is open to wrestlers from around the Northwest. The double-elimination tournament will feature brackets in the following weight classes: 101 pounds, 109, 116, 123, 130, 136, 143, 155, 170 and 191.
Among the returning girls for Homedale are juniors Savannah Turner and Kaydince Turner, both of whom are entering their third year of wrestling with the high school squad; sophomore Lizzy Hergesheimer; and junior Gracie Rotter.
The day before the tournament, a girls' wrestling clinic will take place at NNU. The free clinic is open to fifth- through 12th-graders. Donations will be accepted.
USA Wrestling national development coach Jessica Medina will present the clinic.
Homedale High School and the Idaho chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes are sponsoring the clinic.
