This site will provide a central location to access information on Idaho Power's proposed 298-mile, approximately $1.2 billion Boardman-to-Hemingway (B2H) 500kV transmission line project, with a focus on impacts and news in the Owyhee and Malheur County portion of the project's route. The route as originally proposed ran for 86% of its length on private land. Links on the left will take you to previous reporting, maps and project information and related projects like the West-Wide Energy Corridor (WWEC).
The project initially intended to connect a substation at Boardman, Oregon, to a planned, but now cancelled, substation at Sand Hollow in Payette County, then with the Hemingway substation under construction south of Givens between Cemetary Lane and China Ditch Road. The Hemingway substation would act as a link to a second 500kV transmission line — the Gateway West Project — that would run through southern Idaho to the Windstar substation near Glenrock, Wyoming.
Gateway West articles will be included, as alternate routes for the southern line were released by Idaho Power at the end of September, 2009, following input from Owyhee County residents and legislators (see map link at right).
As new material comes to light, it will be added to this site.
